Sorry to answer a question by a question, but what would you expect the average to be for the following three dates:

(YYYY/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS)


2006/09/27-02:26:52
2006/09/28-07:21:15
2006/10/02-17:08:44

Perhaps you should explain what you expect the system to do when...
-the day/month/year changes (is this possible in your system)
-the hours and minutes differ, as in the above example

Ultimately, you can change extract the time part of a date, and turn it into a numeric fraction by substracting the "trunc(<same date field>)", but I am not sure that doing avg on that result would have any meaning ..? Received on Thu Sep 28 2006 - 07:35:16 CDT
