Geez why even respond if you don't even try to answer the questions that are posed? Das rubber necken sighseenen keepen das cotton-picken hands in das pockets.

Amit, the kernel parameters for sun or hpux or various flavors sometimes do need to be different if you are running more than one oracle database instance. It all depends on what they have been already set to and some of the characteristics of the database instance that you are going to add, as well as some other factors based on the current oracle instance configuration, the number of active sessions, dedicated or shared server, etc.

The operative word is sometimes ... not HAVE to be.

You might see some interesting information if you do a google and include words like sun oracle kernel parameters.

Big Admin is a link you might want to follow from the above url.

Also the oracle documentation for installing and configuring on sun for the release you are running should have plenty of information. http://tahiti.oracle.com

You can find the information about patchsets from www.oracle.com ... choose the support link ( You will need a metalink account ). Once you are logged into metalink then you can click on the Patches & Updates button ( left side menu ).

You have several options at that point, but one option is to use the link that says ... Quick Links to the Latest Patchsets, Mini Packs, and Maintenance Packs.

That link will show you that 9.2.0.7 is the most recent patchset that applies to 9.2 sun 64 bit. Received on Wed Nov 16 2005 - 12:15:26 CST
