thanks for the reply but at the bottom of the copied part are the following lines:

(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = LSRNO4.LSRNO0011S.x.Y.Z)

Doe you mean that teh service name should be lsrno?

Also is it a problem that more databases have the same SID?
