To possibly give you any reasonable advice, it looks like we need some more information.

How big is your current database in total?

What kind of environment (os) and version of oracle are you running under?

Are you running RAW or cooked?

How many tablespaces and datafiles are in use?

How are the tablespaces organized currently?

Are you just looking for a temporary solution to a specific problem or are you thinking about reconfiguring your existing setup?

It seems kind of silly to start debating pro's and con's of possible recommendations without getting additional information.
