Depends on the setup and how many fancy things you want to do. I know a production machine with Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition and nothing fancy that runs fine on a 300Mhz dual Proz Linux machine with 512MB and a small 60MB RAID. Quite outdated, you may think. It serves as a database to an ERP system with 30 users. Thinking about replacing it but it's not urgent: The performance bottleneck is not the database server, it's mostly idling.
