French Messages Installation

Thanks for your help for my earlier posting.

SQL> select * from t;

ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
should appear as
ORA-00942: table ou vue inexistante

I do not have french messages installed on my machine.

1. I changed the message in \\oraclehome$\rdbms\msg\oraus.msb from "table or view does not exist" to "table ou vue inexistante". - Didn't Work
2. and even renamed file oraus.ms oraf.msb - Didn't Work
3. Set the Environment variable NLS_LANG and ALTER SESSION STATEMENT. - Didn't Work

The change of language should be valid per session basis (per user - not for all users in the instance)

Please let me know, how can I test it without actually installing the french files.
