I wouldn't repost the same question if already answered. The first time I had asked about version 8i, and the second time I asked about 9i. Maybe that one-character difference slipped your eye (no problem with me).

• Anyway, thanks to you and others who answered my questions here. It's hard for an Oracle newbie to come to grips with such a vast system, even giving all the available documentation. I cannot give anything back here for the time being (but I did on various other, unrelated topics in Usenet), but be assured I am aware of how Usenet works and how to behave and contribute here.
