Hardware requirements for Developer tools

Hi all,

Years ago, I "played around" with Developer 2000 with a Oracle 7 Personal Database, on Windows NT4 workstation, with around 64MB EDO RAM.

I want to get some hands on skills with the newer version of D2K. I guess I will need the 9i database, 9i Application Server and 9i Forms Developer. I can get that through OTN. What type of hardware and OS would I need to run all this ? I'm planning to build a system primarily to load these components and may be some Micrsoft products like SQL Server and VB. No flames please, but I'd prefer Windows 2000 Pro or XP Pro. Will 512 MB RAM be enough ? I see there are motherboards for Athlon XP and P4 CPU's which claim they will take up to 3GB of RAM. Should I use a single or dual processor system for best results ?

Thanks for your help,
MD. Received on Tue Oct 01 2002 - 22:41:12 CDT
