rman, linux, and 2 gig file size limit

Is there a way to spread an oracle backup to disk across multiple files to get around the 2 gig limit on a standard linux filesystem?

I've been skimming the RMAN reference, but I am pretty new to oracle so pardon me if this is incorrect, but it sounds like I want to span a full backup over multiple backup sets...or somehow create a single backup set spanning multiple files...
I would think I have to do something with multiple channels and filesperset? I initially tried setsize, but that was before I realized that was the size of the entire set, not the size of each file.

thanks,
