Can't connect to Management Server

I am new to Oracle. I have extensive experience with SQL Server and SQL Server Enterprise Manager.

I have just installed Oracle 8.1 on my W2K Server machine. Apparently Oracle Management Server was installed too, since I have the option of removing it through the Oracle setup.

My problem is that I can't connect to the management server running on my machine, using Oracle Enterprise Manager Cosole. I am using the Sysman login with every possible password that I can think of. I keep getting the message "Unable to connect to the management server. Please verify that you have entered the correct host name and the status of the Oracle Management Server."

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
