Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> oracle 9i standard edition on linux
Hi,
I've tried to install Oracle 9i Standard Edition on Red Hat 7.1.
I have used X-Manager as X-Server on an Windows XP box. Everything seemed to
work fine, till after about half an houre the X-Server got slower in drawing
the windows and finally crashed.
So I tried to do it directly on the Linux box. But when I started the run
the connection is refused by the X-Server. The same happened with an other
X-Server on the Windows box
the message I got was always like:
[oracle_at_wunderwuz tmp]$ export DISPLAY=192.168.0.4:0.0
[oracle_at_wunderwuz tmp]$ Disk1/runInstaller
[oracle_at_wunderwuz tmp]$ Initializing Java Virtual Machine from
/tmp/OraInstall/jre/bin/jre. Please wait...
Xlib: connection to "192.168.0.4:0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
java.lang.InternalError: Can't connect to X11 window server using
'192.168.0.4:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.

I've tried all other possible DISPLAY settings like "localhost" or
hostnames, but nothing worked.
The strange thing is that this worked fine for a lot of other aplications.
anybody an idea?
anyway. thanks in advance
andreas
