Is there a way to remove a datafile from a tablespace?

Hi,



I've just added a second datafile to a tablespace for testing but am having
difficulties removing the new datafile.



Tried ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE 'ABC' OFFLINE DROP but that ends the datafile
in 'recover' status.



Can anyone help? (THANKS!)
