Hot backups

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to do hot oracle backups. The DB is on an advanced server windows machine. I've tried to use the regular backup utility to a tape drive, but the files won't backup since they are in use.

Any pointers on how to go about this or where to look? Thanks in advance.
