Hello,
The index length is limited, on Oracle 7 it was about 500 Bytes length. So 3218 seems to be a Oracle 8 or 8i. If you use Oracle 8i then you can use a Intermedia Text index. If you use it for fast retrieval of the content this would be the right option.
