Moving indices and storage to re-created table

I have time sensitive data in a VLDB which needs to be moved from one column to another when periods change. I found that renaming and creating a new table is faster, plus it avoids fragmentation.

Here's the rub:

I need to also re-create indices and storage requirements.

Any ideas?
