Oracle 7.3.4 and Linux

Hello!

How can I access our Oracle 7.3.4 (WinNT) server from Linux programs
(php3)?

I've got the Oracle 8.0.5 client but when I try connect it gives me an ORA-01005 error (null password). Of course I type the correct user name and password. And there is an interesting thing: I can access the server from sqlplus.

I have no idea what's wrong, please help!
