Hi-

I am looking for the best configuration and it occurred to me that having several small and cheap machines sharing one big RAID would be ideal: scalable, performant, reliable, available.

But how does it work? How dou you set up the machines? How does Oracle know what to run where? How many machines can you run in parallel? What about the SGA? Etc...

I wanted to buy a Sun Enterprise 450 with a dozen disks but now I am thinking about 4 Sun Ultra machines and a Sun storage array.

Any advice/pointer/comment will be sincerly appreciated.

Thanks.

David.
