If you are using an enhanced keyboard that has the Alt-Gr key, you may not be able to enter characters using Alt-Gr directly form the keyboard. You can eneter their ASCII equivalents instead. To enter this characters, hold down the Alt key and type in the corresponding number on the numeric keypad of your keyboard.

ALT 36 for the dollar sign
ALT 64 for the at sign
