Is training worth the price?

Hello all,

I don't know if this the right place to post this message to, but if it is, here goes:

I am looking at taking Oracle training at a local IT training company and to somehow eventually get employed as a DBA - or possible other related position. I was wondering how beneficial is it to shell out thousands of dollars for training, and how it compares to the prospect of getting employed in this area, even at entry-level, after the training?

Can you all give me some honest advice?
