Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> Re: Migrating from Access to Oracle
How can you get an unbiased source when you've only asked Oracle newsgroups,
post the same question in SQL-Server newsgroups and the answer will be quite
different.
I am an Access/SQL-Server developer so I'll give you my viewpoint. I'd use
Access, without reservation, for anything up to 10 users and 100 MB of data,
on a fast Ethernet system. I'd use SQL-Server, without reservation, for
anything up to 500 users and 500 GB of data. I'd think about Oracle ONLY if
I needed greater capacity than that. My reasoning is solely based on
cost/benefit analysis of all 3 systems. Obviously, if you feel more
comfortable with Oracle than SQL-Server, you should use it.
