Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> cannot run Net8 Assistant
I've just installed Oracle 8.0 but I cannot run Net8 Assistant and I need to
create a connect string.
If I look at the Windows task list I see N8a.exe running with 0% CPU usage..
but I also see java.exe running at 99% CPU usage and my whole system runs
slowly.
The system Oracle is installed on is a PIII500 with 128 RAM (no problems there) but one possible reason is that it's a dual boot PC with Win98 and Win NT 4 (service pack 3 - for a reason). Could it be that the dual boot is causing problems or perhaps because I have NT Service pack 3 installed and Oracle 8.0 requires Service pack 4??
Can anyone think of any ideas I can try to get this working.. or is it possible to create connect strings in a different way? I have a working installation of Oracle on a different PC.. could I create a connect string on that PC and then copy a file on to non-working PC (assuming connect strings are stored in a file)??
any ideas welcome.
Thanks
Kevin
