Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> Personal Oracle 8 on Win95 LSNRCTL80 Crash - Please Help
I used to be able to run LSNRCTL80 and give it the START command in order to
use Forms and Reports with PO8. A few days back my computer froze with a
bunch of programs runnings and since then I have had all kinds of problems
with many common programs.
It started with Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer aborting and then the Explore program (which manages the Desktop) itself would abort. I applied WIN95 SP1 patch and also upgraded to Outlook98 (from 97) and Internet Explorer 4.01 (from 3.02).
My Internet Explorer works properly now, but Microsoft Outlook still is a bit flaky. Also now I cannot run the LSNRCTL80.EXE needed to use Oracle Forms and Reports.
Whenever I try to type the START command from the LSNRCTL> prompt, the programs aborts with a invalid page fault message. The same error occurs when I try other commands such as "TRACE 1" or any "SHOW XXX" commands, a line for "Connecting to (ADDRESS=..." appears and then the program aborts.
Occasionally, I am uable to shutdown the Oracle Database. The shutdown command returns with a message number (I think 12547) saying "Unable to connect to the database".
Any ideas on what may be the problem and how I should go about resolving it?
Appreciate your response
