Oracle8 Archive process

I'm running some PLSQL code that processes a raw ascii file and loads into our Oracle8 database. This process doesn't use Oracle SQL Loader. I need PLSQL to process these files that are sent by my customer for processing speed.

The problem is that the Archive logger is on and I can generate around 4 gig of archive files on any specific load. I can't turn archiving off since a load can happen any time of day.

Does anyone know how to turn archiving off for a specific process without turning it off for the whole SID? SQL Loader does this with the unrecoverable option.

Any Ideas???????
