Timeseries Implementation

Can anyone give some information about the 'real' logical model of the timeseries Cartridge?
I'm not looking for commercial information, nor the explanation as stated in the Oracle user's guides.
No, I'm looking for how (no code just a model) Time series are really implemented by the Oracle corporation.

Any hints? Any URL's with more info? Every hint is welcome...
