I would recommend the Oracle Web Application Serve(WAS), because you get a very tight integration to the Oracle 8 database.

With WAS you can:
- Call stored procedures.

• Get the advantage of the Oracle security system.
• Get transaction processing.
• Get a native connection to the database, which means you don't have to use ODBC.

You can use Javascript to do the validation, and you can let Javascript check the browser version.

Even if you use Java as the development tool you will get a tight integration to Oracle database, because Oracle supports Java.
