I suggest that you don't waste you time and energy trying to expose the incompetent. If it hurts, you should try to find a way to put yourself above that. Over time, the competent people will be recognized by their accomplishments. If that doesn't happen, you are probably working for the wrong people and have little hope of advancing in the current company anyway. Look for a better job.

Also, keep in mind that the "incompetent" knows that you're the one getting the job done and they need you more than you need them.

Think about this quote from Elizabeth Kenny:
