[OFF TOPIC] Maven.co

I've been asked to join Maven.co. As I've never even heard of this site, I attempted to find some information, and more importantly experiences of others who may have joined. To no avail...

Apparently this is a micro-consultancy company by the name of Maven Research that, in spite of its Columbian domain, is located in the USA. They described themselves in a 3-year old interview as "not unlike LinkedIn, but more private". They promise to pay for consults rendered, an in my Australian experience, unbelievably high hourly rate too.

My question is, have you any experience with this company, and if so, would you recommend signing up with them? Can a "maven" expect much work through it? Did you have any legal issues ensuing from performing a paid micro-consult?
