I kept meaning to comment, srry I'm late.
A client runs HyperV as a management layer on HP G8s. Each VM runs on it's own physical machine, so the VM is "wasted resources" in a sense. It is not Oracle certified, we did extensive testing before committing and we have not had any issues whatsoever due to the VM. The working OS is WIN2003/WIN2008 with a move to WIN2012 in progress.
The time savings for the sysadmins are huge and as an added bonus we are using the VM backups as point in time recoveries for the development database. Startup the backup VM, 9 times out of 10 Oracle performs recovery and opens. The other time, well that's why developers are responsible for their own work, isn't it
Certainly of no use for production, but there are numerous scenarios especially in testing and tuning where this will save lots of time
