Just saw this Carlos - sounds like you are specifically looking for one kind of scalability (performance & size of a single database) - but you might also be interested to check out a recent checklist I put together for scalability at a more general/operational level. I'm slowly writing up detailed articles on each section. Would love to hear any feedback you (or others) have. :)
