Google shows you asking this question on this list two years ago, with apparently no response.
I don't have a definitive response either, so perhaps it originated from the word "grok <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grok>", which originated 50 years ago in the science-fiction novel "Stranger In A Strange Land" by Robert Heinlein.

If so, it would most likely be used as a verb, but In the CSSD logs it seems to be used as a noun or adjective.

Nevertheless, it wouldn't be the first time a programmer re-purposed an obscure science-fiction reference in their work...
