also you can use kfed to scan the LUN header, for example kfed dev=all op=read or kfed dev=/dev/sda1 op=read

you can run this in target and you will see the disk ASM metadata
kfed is compiled by default in 11gR2 (not sure about R1), in 10gR2 you have to generate the executable manually
