Add to that, hidden columns, such as those created in object types, are included in the count. For example, in the case of a table containing 'one spatial column', that column implies 7 hidden columns that do not appear in the normal column count.

(Not going to delve into the idea that more than 50 columns is often a symptom of bad design.)

However, that does not explain that this worked in an older version and no longer works in the new version.

Is there a mismatch between the client version (SQL*Plus, TNS/Oracle Networking, jdbc) and the database version?
