You're right, Niall. I was trying to install 10.2.0.1. When I tried 11.2.0.1 on this NFS mount point, runInstaller ran fine, and different mount options make no difference. When I pass -debug to runInstaller (10.2.0.1), it shows errors "No zipfiles found." and if I check the files from where I launch runInstaller, they're indeed in a wrong path. (But maybe the process already changed directory in the middle?) Anyway, running OUI from a local filesystem works and 11g OUI has no such problem. I don't want to pursue further. Thanks.

couple of comments.
1) based on the output below I suspect this is a really old version, prob 9i. Does the issue reproduce with currently supported versions2) does cloning work?
