I seem to have over-quoted, yet again, in the original reply. My sincere apologies to the moderator.

Hi Jon

Understood. Thanks. On the DB hosts there is a single 1Gb ethernet card for storage, so I definitely expect this to be our bottleneck. The hardware was purchased before I started with the organization (I've just been here a few weeks), but the architectural principle in place historically was host-level redundancy e.g. private, public, storage network all use a single NIC each, but the loss of a node is acceptable and won't impact service levels.

Going forward, the plan is to use a second NIC and have a second path to the storage. We use the Oracle Direct NFS Client already, so no need for these to be bonded by the OS. However, this needs to be tested throughout the environments, so we're not there yet. So, current scope is 1Gb NIC in the immediate term and this round of Orion testing.
