We built a silent install of the 10.2.0.5 client on Win7 x64 some months ago. First we install 10.2.0.3 and patch this up to 10.2.0.5.

You must apparently add something like the following to client\stage\prereq\client\refhost.xml in the 10.2.0.3 install in order to get it to accept Win7:

  <!--Microsoft Windows 7-->
  <OPERATING_SYSTEM>
  <VERSION VALUE="6.1"/>
  </OPERATING_SYSTEM>

This should be added to the CERTIFIED_SYSTEMS tag.

The patch to 10.2.0.5 does not need any of this.

This was done on a 32-bit Oracle-client, but I suspect it would be the same on 64-bit.

Best regards

Is this 10g?

Run the installer with -ignoresysprereqs flag

(You'll have to create a shortcut for the installer and add the flag to the shortcut path)

I thought I saw a thread on windows 7 and oracle client. We can't seem to get it loaded. It asks for vista but not windows 7. We need 64bit. Is there a work-around?
