You have a primary database and one or more standby databases.

Each database, regardless of edition, must be licensed.

Each option in each database must be licensed to match the primary.

If you have Enterprise Edition, you can optionally add Active Data Guard. However the Data Guard and Data Guard Broker are included in your licenses.

If you have Standard Edition or SE1, you would want to look at third party products that do a job very similar to Data Guard. The DBVisit product is (a very reasonably priced) license from DBVisit.com
