Are consumer SSDs ready for virtualisation?

Good morning all,

I was wondering if consumer SSDs are ready for virtualisation? I.e. I currently have 4 500G disks in a RAID 0 to get the maximum performance of the otherwise rather slow disks. SSDs offer vastly improved performance, esp. in writing (the one I looked at apparently writes 175M/s in an unspecified workload)

Now the question is: are these consumer SSDs ready for typical virtualisation workloads? This won't be production, but a 2 node RAC cluster generates a bit more IO than Word or Excel...

Anyone mind sharing experience? Oh, I'd use OpenSuSE 11.4 or 12.1 as the dom0 for xen.

Best regards,

Martin
