Something to looking into is not using excel at all. With the relatively new MODEL clause you can do pretty much any number crunching you'd do in excel in SQL now. This is a link to docs about it in 10.2 which when I think it came out.

Assuming I have a column of PO numbers in an Excel spreadsheet, is it possible to access Oracle for each of those numbers to retrieve additional information. The information retrieved for each PO number would go into another Excel cell. Can this be done? If so, looking for information on how.
