Correct. What I meant by my "functional" comment was just that if you can deal with the craptacular UI, the tight coupling to the database and stupid transaction codes it will do what you want it to. You are correct with your metaphor to describe SAP as "using a handsaw to fell a tree".

That's about the size of it. Someone made the comment that their applications where "functional" which is true, similar to using a handsaw to fell a tree. It's work, but there are better tools out there.

You just confirmed my fears ... there are also other configuration issues which I did't mention here since if this can't be resolved, no point to bother for the rest - 'take it or leave it' ;-)
