you could try to do a nslookup or ping -a using the given ip numbers and then see if the returned hostnames clarify the usage.

Or you can ask your sysadmin to provide a list detailing per node the ip address, subnet and hostname to be used for that ip address. The network interface name (or bonding name) to be used for a certain ip should also be listed (the nics for the public interface should be the same across the different nodes. Idem for the private interface).

Hi

Apologies for not wording the question properly.

When the sysadmins gives me a bunch of IP's they are just numbers seperated by dots.How would i know i need to use this number for VIP this number for public IP and this number for private interconnect.
