I don't agree with the following on your statement. Without additional details on your problem (do you have an SR or Bug#) it is hard to agree on that.

ASM metadata is triple mirrored in every ASM Disk and you are highly protected against metadata failures/corruptions. In fact they are just bitmaps and not much "_data_" in the metadata. So this issue is taken care.
But the header corruption is totally a different thing. you will be in trouble if some one accidentally overwrites the file/disk headers.
