*Description:

Responsible for support of the Banner system environment and related components of the database systems on Linux. Performs all analytical tasks necessary for Banner system support, development, maintenance, and enhancement including the underlying Oracle database, and Luminis portal.

Duties of Position Characteristic Duties: Responsible for and performs Banner/Luminis patch management, including monitoring Metalink.oracle.com for database patches and new features and the Sungard Support Center website regularly for Luminis portal patches. Applies needed Banner Apps and database level patches. Creates a backup strategy, transaction log strategy & management, disaster recovery planning using Oracle's Data Guard. Monitors all Banner/Luminis instances. Does SLA monitoring (especially in regards to performance).
Includes monitoring daily logs for error messages. Monitors performance and executes performance tuning, in particular, balancing application needs on shared platforms. Responsible, in cooperation with server administrators, for the overall uptime of the system, ensuring that each system is accessible to end-users as is documented in its SLA. Manages O/S patches and performance issues on the db servers, in cooperation with server administration team. Troubleshoots production problems related to the Banner/Luminis environment. Acts in a backup capacity to the Oracle Apps DBA for EBS support. This position requires on-call duties after hours on a regular basis from a problem-solving perspective
as well as installing new systems or upgrades during off-hours. Clones instances and code backups and restores with RMAN. Re-links Luminis to various database instances. Mentors the Oracle DBA's
Works closely with the Oracle Sys Admins. Works closely with the Data Warehousing Analyst (ODS, EDW, Cognos).

Education Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.

Experience Required:
Banner Administration experience - 1 year Luminis Portal experience - 1 year
Oracle 10g DBA experience - 2 years
Oracle E-Business Suite 11i experience - 2 years Oracle Application Server experience, support, maintenance - 2 years Oracle Portal experience - 1 year
Unix/Linux shell scripting or similar (Perl, awk, sed) -3 years Knowledge of TCP/IP networking environment - 2 years

Special Requirements Preferred:
Luminis IV
Oracle 10i DBA Certified Professional, SAP, Oracle Applications, PeopleSoft Oracle DBA.
UNIX System Administration PL/SQL Experience. Knowledge of Web concepts and some HTML, Data Warehousing, CRM, Veritas, SAN (EMC), and RMAN experience. - 2 years Enrollment Management Suite - EMS
BDMS - Banner Document Management Suite (Formerly "Banner Extender Solutions - BXS")
