You may want to look at the character set values for the source database. See the following article:

I'm running into an ORA-1461 error while loading data via bulk collection. I"ve dumped out all of the strings and none of them exceed any of the stated lengths in the in-memory table or the "real" table.

oracle 9.2.0.8 on solaris 10.
