Right, but trying to get a definition of what "base grid control" means is very challenging. Just about everything that is even vaguely useful about OEM costs money. And most of the stuff that is theoretically useful doesn't work.

Thanks,

The base grid control product is included in your database license according to the Oracle people we have discussed it with. The cost is associated with the diagnostic and performance packs and any packages that will monitor Oracle E-Business suite. The marketing name for those latter packages escapes me.

For a machine with 10 CPU's with discounts it comes to over $100,000.00

I'm sorry to disagree, but grid control is NOT free. Database Control and AS Control are included in db and oracleAS, but grid control is a separate stand-alone product and it's license is a hefty sum.

Grid Control is FREE. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that Grid Control is free as long as your targets are licensed. You only have to pay extra for management packs, but those are licensed for the target databases regardless of whether or not you use Grid Control to interface with them. For example with AWR, you have to buy a Diagnostics Pack license if you want to query the AWR views/tables, run the AWR procedures/scripts, etc. regardless of whether or not you use DB Control or Grid Control.

Well Grid Control is probably the most expensive option....
