Perhaps the LOG_CHECKPOINTS_TO_ALERT init.ora parameter is what you're looking for.

Subject: Finding the checkpoint frequency

We are NOT seeing the checkpoint-related message in Alertlog such as this:

Beginning log switch checkpoint up to RBA [0x1a01.2.10], SCN: 0x0000.644a1dbb
..
Completed checkpoint up to RBA [0x1a01.2.10], SCN: 0x0000.644a1dbb

Is there a way to enable it so that we see it in alertlog? Any event?

Are there other ways to find out, say, from v$ tables, to see how often are checkpoints happening?

The DB version is 10.2.0.3

Thanks,
Deepak
