From 220970.1, RAC FAQ :
Is crossover cable supported as an interconnect with RAC on any platform ? NO. CROSS OVER CABLES ARE NOT SUPPORTED..... Please see certify.us.oracle.com as well.

And the note now gives reasons for the expected issues too.
