Just a quick note about processing OLTP and highly parallelized batches. Often, OLTP traffic has few serialization points (and so do batches). In the real world of badly designed applications - it's practically 100% the case. That means, running in more parallel threads can suffer a lot from concurrency issues while same workload done "more sequentially" won't be impacted as much.
