Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Error in trace file
Is this the: "Warning lio_listo returned EAGAIN" messages?
If they are then they can be produced by the AIX asynchronous I/O subsystem when the Async I/O buffer is full.
This shouldn't cause great alarm, as all this means is that Oracle has to re-request the write operation, although obviously this does introduce an overhead.
I have posted a rather incoherent post on this subject on my blog, although in my case I was using an older version of Oracle and AIX:

Subject: Error in trace file
we are getting this error in a trace file, hundreds of times:
Warning: I/O request got either EINTR or EAGAIN
This is Oracle 9.2.0.8 64 bit on AIX. Can anyone shed some light on what this means?
