We are trying to do a restore from one Windows server to a new server. If the registry cannot be restored so that it matches the registry on the old server, is it possible to (a) manually remove Oracle by removing the Oracle directory and (b) then reinstall the software and still use the RMAN backups that were created on the first server?

Are there any other "gotchas" that can come up by trying to do it this way?
