Here is my 2 cents
Upgrade the existing HP to 10g
Use Transportable Tablespace option to move it to AIX (TTS and FTP) if you can cross mount the FS, it will be faster to move/copy instead of ftp/sftp
in 10g TTS can be done across different platforms
Search Metalink or this group for more details about cross platform porting.
